Restart a Heart Day: A Lifesaving Success in Harley Street

The Harley Street BID was delighted by the fantastic response to its first-ever Restart a Heart Day, held in partnership with The Harley Street Clinic, part of HCA Healthcare UK.

The event offered free, hands-on CPR training sessions to members of the local community in support of the national Restart a Heart campaign. Delivered by expert clinicians, the small-group workshops equipped participants with essential lifesaving skills and the confidence to act quickly in a cardiac emergency.

Each session was designed to be practical, engaging, and accessible to everyone, with a maximum of six participants per group. Attendees had the chance to practise CPR techniques under the guidance of healthcare professionals and ask questions in an encouraging, supportive environment.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Many participants said they felt more confident delivering CPR and valued the opportunity to learn in an interactive setting rather than online. One attendee, Tom, shared that he had been considering paying for a first aid course when he saw the free BID event. “You offered more than I was expecting — I’m really thankful for the opportunity,” he said.

Others echoed his enthusiasm:
• “The small group size made the session really hands-on and effective. This approach definitely leads to the best learning outcomes.”
• “Despite delivering the session many times, the presenters remained professional and explained priorities clearly. A really fabulous experience,  thank you and well done!”

Nicki Palmer, BID Director at Harley Street BID, said: “We’re thrilled with the success of our first Restart a Heart Day and the positive feedback we’ve received. Events like this are so important because they empower people with the confidence and skills to make a real difference in an emergency. We’re proud to support our local community and look forward to hosting more initiatives that promote health, safety, and wellbeing in Harley Street.”

The Harley Street BID looks forward to building on this momentum with more events that promote health, safety, and wellbeing for everyone who lives, works, and visits the area.
