Aldgate in Winter Festival returns for its seventh year
Join the local community and light up Aldgate this December.
Aldgate Connect BID is proud to announce the return of the Aldgate in Winter Festival on Friday 8th December 2023. Now in its seventh edition, the festival will once again return to Aldgate Square for an evening of music, dance, performance, lights, and much more.
The jam-packed programme returns this December with some firm favourites, including the Lantern Parade, live performances on The Aldgate Stage, the Community Feast, and the annual Christmas Tree light switch on. The winter fun will begin at 3.30PM in Aldgate Square, with live music and entertainment from local performers and community groups, as well as shows from two exciting headline acts. K’Z Dance Entertainment will once again be bringing Bollywood to Aldgate Square with an interactive dance workshop, whilst LED Dance Entertainment will light up the streets of London with illuminating dancers and classic hits to sing along to.
From here, the fun will extend across Aldgate as the Lantern Parade hits the streets. The heart and soul of the festival, the Lantern Parade brings together the community and local schools to display handmade lanterns through the streets of Aldgate. Led by Drum Works, an impactful samba drum band, the parade will light up Aldgate with music and colour, encouraging members of the community to join in with the celebration.
The Lantern Parade will make its way around Aldgate before returning to its starting point in Aldgate Square. The winter celebrations will continue with more live performances and music from local bands, choirs, and community groups, before a special DJ set and bingo game from Dabbers Social Bingo draws the evening to a close. Don’t forget to make the most of the Community Feast, too! As part of the Aldgate in Winter Festival, Aldgate Connect BID will be handing out free meals to those attending the celebrations. Grab a hot meal from The Aldgate Tap and settle in for a night of performances on The Aldgate Stage.
